Master-entertainer Willie Wartaal started his life in the spotlights in Portugal, where he dj-ed in many clubs along the coast. It will be hard to find a club in the Algarve where Willie has not put the roof on fire.
After his return to Holland, he founded, together with Vieze Fur and P. Faberge, rapgroup De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig. Their first single was a huge success; Watskeburt?! became the word of the day and the single stayed at the number 1 position for 6 weeks, being one of the biggest selling records in 2005. Not only was the single a big commercial success, the debut album of De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, Parels Voor De Zwijnen received rave reviews and was showered with every award imaginable, from a MOBO award to an Edison (Dutch Grammy).
This success showed Willie s ability to entertain and it didn t take long for tv-executives to discover his talent. At the end of 2005 Willie got his own self-titled tv-show on national television; Wartaal. This was the start of many more tv-shows to be hosted by Willie. At the moment he presents a popular tv-show for kids, Villa Life.
In the midst of his busy schedule Willie still finds the time to dj all around the country and beyond. His dj-sets are an exciting mixture of house, techno, electro, hiphop and R & B that will make the crowd go wild.
Not only has Willie collaborated with the creme de la creme of Dutch hiphop (from Opposites to Lang Frans), he is also gaining recognition as a producer. His latest project, aka The Junkies, is a joint venture between Willie and Arjuna. Their first single Konijntje will be released on Magnetron Music in November and includes remixes by Mason & The Maker, Seymour Bits and others.
